What can good cables do for my system?

Long considered just a way to connect up an audio system, recent advancements in measurements have allowed designers a more comprehensive glimpse into the inner workings of cabling than were available even just 5 years ago. Cables can have an immense impact on the ability of your system to function properly. Our selection of cabling allows us to correctly construct audio systems that operate closer to their full potential.

Linn

Linn makes three ranges of products: high performance audio/video products, including speakers, custom installation products which allow house-wide music, and one-box music or movie components.. Within these ranges, Linn makes phono components, digital components, preamplifiers, amplifiers, speakers, surround sound processors, cables, and tuners. MIT

MIT makes quite an extensive selection of audio, digital, and video cables. The selection of cables can be quite daunting. Please feel free to contact us with questions or help in selecting an appropriate cable for your application. Also note that many of the MIT cable names are easily confused; very different sounding cables have very similar sounding names.

Unless otherwise noted, audio cables are priced per pair, whereas digital and video cables are priced individually. Speaker cables are single wired and interconnects are single ended (RCA) unless otherwise noted. For brevity, we have priced just one length of cable, typically 1m (meter) for interconnects, or 8' (or sometimes 10') for speaker cables. Generally, longer cables are not that much more expensive. For example, cable that is 10 times longer might only cost 23% to 50% more. MIT also makes AC Power Conditioning equipment.

MIT / Spectral Cables:

MIT makes special interconnects and speaker cables for use with Spectral amplifiers. These cables provide the correct electrical environment for the proper and safe operations of the amplifier. Because Spectral amplifiers have a passband that extends into the megahertz region, they require a special pole in the network box of the MIT interconnects and speaker cable. The speaker cables also provide the proper output inductance for the amplifier. Spectral guarantees their amplifiers only when used with approved MIT interconnects and cables. The following cables are specifically labeled "Spectral." With some Spectral amplifiers, you may also use any of the MIT Reference series interconnects and speaker cables. Please feel free to consult us for specific recommendations.

Note: Only Spectral's amplifiers require these cables. Their preamplifiers, D-A converts, and CD Transport may be used with any desired cable, including non-MIT cables. However, for sonic reasons, we still recommend MIT cables in these applications.
